Tonight on WTTW and tonight on YOUR PBS station too or very soon hereafter and also on DVD. Watch the trailer.
I have loved this play since it's original pre-production album. I can sing every part and often have. I kind of wish I could play the Arbiter because he is such a badass. I saw the touring production of it years ago in the late-80s after it had bombed on Broadway and undergone a lot of changes, and it was excellent.
Love, love, love. The trailer's great; I hope they do the whole show proud.
Having purchased opera tickets, I am now officially on every cultural institution's mailing list in the Greater Chicago Area. I received the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's 2009/2010 guide this last week and they're doing Ralph Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 5 next February!
EEEEEEEEEEEE!
The only way I could be more excited would be if they were doing his 3rd, "A Pastoral Symphony." So, yeah. I'll be going to that.
I do love classical music, but my favorite composers are Vaughan Williams and Aaron Copland. Love. Them. Sadly, they aren't doing any Copland in 2009 or 2010, this or next season. Well, they just did a special concert honoring Lincoln which included Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" but that's not really the same.
I feel so sophisticated. I've never been to the opera, so this will be very cool.
So since moving to Chicago, I've been to a concert at Ravinia, a performance of Swan Lake by the the Kirov Ballet, and will be going to the Lyric Opera. Next, I need to get to a show at Steppenwolf.
