I should have posted this up ages ago. My apologies to artist extraordinaire Rep Pickard for not doing so. Also apologies for being so useless with this web comic. I promise I’ll make progress on it once all this real-life stuff that’s been going on since the holidays calms down — I’m aiming to get this properly kicked-off in April. In the meantime, enjoy Page One (click for larger view).
I think it’s fantastic, and Maryn really looks great in her goth gear!

But only about weekly updates and stuff. I’m going to update The Beatniks as time allows–which may mean it will be even MORE like Butterfly and be random and sporadic–but when I finally finish the story, it’ll be what I wanted and not a rushed mess I threw together because I’d overcommitted. I should never make decisions like this before the holidays; I always get way overconfident about how productive I’ll be. *rolls*eyes*at*self*
But I will not stop this attempt at web-comicing until whatever arc I’m working on when I decide to quit is finished. Still pinky-swear to that.

One-page update today, but it’s an update!

Okay, let’s just chalk week 2 up to bad planning. This is the problem with impulsiveness — I failed to remember that this week was going to be a complete disaster of running around and not having any spare time to do anything including working ahead so I’d be ready for this week’s update. Therefore, I am hereby declaring next Tuesday, 12/11, as the first Official Beatnik Update Day, and from then on, I will aim for weekly Tuesday updates. Since Christmas looms, I will try to get ahead of things to stay to the schedule regardless.
I don’t want to be one of “those” webcomicers who gets into a story and just stops. I hereby vow that I will not stop this exercise in fun and comic-book scripting in mid-story. If I do get to the place where I decide to quit, I’ll finish the story in progress first. *makes little vowing gesture*

This is part one of what I intend to be an ongoing exercise. Inspired by Dean Trippe’s Butterfly, I thought I’d take a stab at writing my own superhero webcomic! There’s only one problem.
I can’t draw.
So, instead, I’m doing my webcomic in script form and will be putting out a few pages a week. I’m going to aim for one update a week minimum, but I don’t know what update-day will be yet.
I took the script style from a sample Gen13 script by Gail Simone, so I hope it’s at least close to the correct format.
